Paper Piecing, Weaving, Folding Week- Dawn Heald

dawn1 (564x640)

Hello everyone, this is our last post of our paper piecing, weaving and folding week.  The DT have shown you a few ways of using your scraps which we all have so many of.  Today Dawn has made a lovely card for you.

Dawn says.....

"Hello, when we were given our mission ahem "topic" for this week, I decided to make a card that includes all the techniques given to use. I've done paper; weaving, piecing and folding, using the Scruffy Little Cat collection. Hope you like it and here's how to make it.

1.  Cut two pieces of card square. Five inch and five and three quarter inch. These are your backing for paper weaving.

2.  Choose four pattern papers and cut into one inch strips. Use two patterns going down and another two to go across and weave them together. Use dabs of glue to secure ends. Use pink Distress Inks around edges. Then matt and layer these.

3.  Take a square card blank and score a line from bottom left corner to top right corner and fold inwards. Attach your large weaved panel to base and small one to the top bottom half only.

4.  Stamp Chanel on white card with black memento ink and again onto pattern paper. From this cut out the dress only. Cut inside the lines. Colour image except dress part with Pro Markers. Then glue cut out dress onto image.

5.  Punch a border and stick at an angle on front with some ribbon over that. Trim image to size. Cut a matt for this from white card. Use corner rounder punch on two opposite corners. Use distress inks to colour edges. Attach to card as shown.

6.  Make a selection of embellishments and a rosette from more pattern papers that match what you've already used. I used mainly Woodware punches and created flowers with them. The butterfly is made from two punched squares, tea bag folded. Decorate card with them. Add a stamped sentiment popping out from rosette. Finish with clear gems, pearls and dots of white opal liquid pearls.

7.  I've shown how to make the larger flowers. Fold strip of paper in half. Place folded edge first into a heart punch to just below where the two curves meet and punch. Open out and shape. Layer two together. These look good done in white with colour just coming from the middle".
